- About Department –
1.1) Introduction :-
Water and Sanitation Department is a department in Satara Zilla Parishad. A Water and Sanitation Committee has been established in the Zilla Parishad to implement various programs and schemes related to water and sanitation development. This department is under the primary control of the District Collector and the Chief Executive Officer, and various schemes related to water and sanitation are being implemented in the district.
1.2) Vision and Mission :-
Providing 55 liters of clean water per person per day to the people of rural areas and providing individual toilets, as well as creating a clean and healthy environment at the village level.
1.3) Objectives &Functions:-
Objective of Swachh Bharat Mission Scheme: To provide all citizens with the benefit of a healthy life and to adopt hygiene habits by providing easy access to toilets for women, elderly and children and to make the entire environment pollution-free by making soil, air and water pollution-free and making the society disease-free. The objective of the scheme is to adopt a dignified, healthy, stress-free lifestyle and to manage sewage, solid waste, filth etc. in a proper and environmentally friendly manner.
Objective of Jal Jeevan Mission Scheme: To continuously supply 55 liters of clean and quality water to all citizens through individual taps per capita per day.
Administrative Setup:-
The Water and Sanitation Department is responsible for providing facilities related to water and sanitation, creating awareness, and providing training for capacity building under the guidance of Hon’ble Chief Executive Officer.

2) In the year 2001-02 under Sant Gadgebaba Gram Swachhata Abhiyan Gram Panchayat Dhamner First place award in Koregaon Pune division. (in section)
3) In the year 2002-03 under Sant Gadgebaba Gram Swachhata Abhiyan Gram Panchayat Lodhwade Ta Man State Third Prize (Maharashtra State)
4) In the year 2004-05 under Sant Gadgebaba Gram Swachhata Abhiyan Gram Panchayat Dhamner First Rank Award in Koregaon State (Maharashtra State)
5) In the year 2005-06, Gram Panchayat Asgaon under Sant Gadgebaba Gram Swachhata Abhiyan. Second prize in Satara division. (In section)
6) In the year 2006-07 under Sant Gadgebaba Gram Swachhata Abhiyan Gram Panchayat Katalgewadi Third place award in Khataw category. (in section)
7) For doing the best work under Sant Gadgebaba Village Swachhta Abhiyan in the year 2008-09 from the state level Hon. Award by Laxmanrao Dhoble. (Maharashtra State)

9) In the year 2012-13 under Sant Gadgebaba Gram Swachhata Abhiyan Gram Panchayat Zakhinwadi 1st Rank Award in Karad Division (in Division)
10) State Level Best Performance Award in Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) for the year 2015-16. (Maharashtra State)
11) Honored at the state level as the first hagan-free district in the state in the year 2016-17 (Maharashtra State)
12) In the year 2016-17, Quality Council of India conducted a survey of the best 75 districts in the country, in which Satara district came third in the country. (Central Govt.)
13) In the year 2016-17, Gram Panchayat Manyachiwadi under Sant Gadgebaba Gram Swachhata Abhiyan. Award of Excellence in Patan State (Maharashtra State)
14) First in the State in Swachhta Darpan in the year 2017-18 (Maharashtra State)
15) Fourth rank in the country in Swachhta Darpan in the year 2017-18 (Central Govt.)
16) “Drishti” short film of Satara district in the year 2017-18 held under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, (Central Govt.)
17) Awarded the National Swachh Bharat Award in the year 2017-18. (Central Govt.)
18) In the year 2018-19 Swachh Survekshan Rural-2018 the first Swachh District in the country Hon. Gorav (Central Government) by the Prime Minister
