    National Biogas and Manure Management Program

    This plan has been implemented since 1982 with subsidies from the central government. According to the administrative approval of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy of the Central Government dated November 2, 2022, it is being implemented for the period from 2021-22 to 2025-26 as per the revised subsidy rates.

    Objectives of the Scheme

    • To provide biogas for cooking.
    • To reduce the use of LPG and other traditional energy sources.
    • To obtain the necessary energy for cooking as per the integrated energy policy.
    • To encourage beneficiaries to use organic manure by reducing the use of chemical fertilizers.
    • To improve the quality of life of rural women and reduce the trouble they face.
    • To help maintain sanitation in rural areas by connecting biogas plants with toilets.

    Terms and Conditions

    • The beneficiary must have sufficient livestock.
    • The beneficiary must have their own land for setting up a biogas plant.
    • If the beneficiary is a farm laborer, a certificate from the Gram Sevak (village officer) is mandatory.
    • It is mandatory to set up the plant according to the model approved by the government.

    Documents to be Submitted by Beneficiaries

    • Extract of farm land account
    • Certificate from Gram Sevak if the beneficiary is a farm laborer
    • Completion certificate of the biogas plant
    • An affidavit that the beneficiary or any person from their household has not previously taken government subsidy for a biogas plant.
    • An affidavit from the beneficiary regarding the use of sufficient daily manure-water for the operation of the plant
    • A proposal in the prescribed format for obtaining subsidy from the Panchayat Samiti
    • Photograph of the beneficiary with the biogas plant after it becomes operational.
