    Koregaon Taluka

    Rahimatpur

    Even though Koregaon is the taluka headquarters, it is small and thus has a gram panchayat. Rahimatpur is larger, so it has a municipality. During the British period, Rahimatpur was the taluka headquarters and housed all government offices. However, for convenience, the British relocated the government offices to Koregaon, making it the taluka headquarters since then.

    Kanher Khed

    Kanher Khed is the ancestral village of the Shinde royal family of Gwalior, with Ranojirao being the founding ancestor. It also has a memorial for Shrimant Mahadji Shinde. The late Madhavrao Shinde visited this village in 1998, making him the first ruler of Gwalior to visit.

    Maruti Temple, Jarandeshwar

    Jarandeshwar Hill, located midway on the Satara-Koregaon road, hosts a Maruti temple established by Samarth Ramdas. Hanuman devotee Govindbaba Sidhe built the temple, hall, and dharmashala. It is said that Govindbaba had a vision of Hanuman.

    Chandangad and Vandangad

    These twin forts are located on the border of Koregaon taluka. Due to their twin nature, they are collectively known as Chandangad and Vandangad. Chandangad is 2200 feet high and is surrounded by cliffs. There is a vast plateau on the fort, featuring the grand dargah of Gaisapak Baba.

    Kalyangad

    This fort, 13 km from Koregaon, is also known as Nandgiri Fort. It was built in the 12th century by King Bhoj II of the Shilahara dynasty of Panhala. In 1673, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s army captured it. Nandgiri was the main headquarters of the local region during Maratha rule. The fort has a pillar well halfway up, and after climbing further, you reach the north-facing entrance. Inside, there is a tunnel with knee-deep clean water. The tunnel houses a 9th-century idol of Jain Tirthankara Parshvanath, along with idols of a goddess and Dattatreya, known as Parshvanath or Datt Cave due to these idols.

    Gopalnath Samadhi, Triputi

    Triputi village is sanctified by the residence of Nath Siddha Gopalnath Maharaj. The village hosts Gopalnath’s samadhi (tomb) and math (monastery). Gopalnath wrote the text “Vedanta Shiromani.” His disciple Haibati wrote “Nathlila Vilas,” detailing Gopalnath’s life.

    Mahadev Temple, Chimangaon

    Chimangaon, located 4 miles from Koregaon, has a Hemadpanthi-style Mahadev temple and a famous Maruti temple established by Samarth Ramdas. Every year in the month of Shravan, a fair is held here on Saturdays.
