-
50% subsidy = ₹5,420
-
Remaining 50% (₹5,420) is the beneficiary’s contribution.
From the ₹5,420 subsidy:
-
Birds (25 females + 3 males) worth ₹4,200 will be supplied to the beneficiaries.
-
Remaining ₹1,220 will be transferred directly to the beneficiary through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) at the taluka level.
Beneficiary Eligibility Criteria:
-
General livestock owners.
2) Innovative Scheme (Sex-Sorted Semen)
Objective of the Scheme:
To produce 90% female calves by using sex-sorted semen for artificial insemination, enhancing milk production and promoting high-yield cattle breeds.
Scheme Structure:
Currently, artificial insemination services are provided to farmers’ animals through veterinary hospitals, resulting in approximately 50% male and 50% female calves. Male calves are generally not raised by farmers, leading to additional feeding and care costs in the initial days. Using sex-sorted semen can ensure the birth of around 90% female calves, reducing costs and increasing female livestock population.
This scheme is considered innovative due to the high probability of producing female calves.
Eligible Beneficiaries:
-
All farmers with hybrid or indigenous livestock.
Expected Benefits:
-
Increase in the number of female calves will lead to increased milk production.
-
Improvement in the financial condition of farmers.
